| Content | The lecture examines medieval works of art that picture art-making and art-makers, and in so doing comment upon the status and role of the work of art and its maker. Considering works in a range of formats and media, the lecture will ask what such self-reflexive images tell us about the conditions of artistic labor, artists’s self-fashioning, and the conceptualization of art in medieval Europe. |
