52317-01 - Colloquium: Presentation of Concepts of MSD Master's Thesis (1 CP)

Content Within the MSD (both curricula), students have to register 3 times in a 'master's thesis colloquium'. This colloquium is the second one (= colloquium B).

The participants present the research questions and the research design used in their master's theses. They prepare their presentations in form of a pitch (of 5 minutes) in a way that is accessible to an interdisciplinary audience, focus on the relation of their research questions to sustainable development and the fit between these questions and the research design. The presentation is followed by 5' for questions of understandig; and a group discussion.
Details according to program of each meeting, sent out around 10 days beforehand.
Learning objectives Participants learn
- to present research questions and a research concept to an interdisciplinary audience;
- to place their research questions in an appropriate sustainability context;
- to discuss research questions and concepts from other disciplines;
- to provide constructive feedback to their fellow students.

Comments Schedule fall semester 2026 - all dates are mandatory and all participants must be available for these dates!!!

The meetings will start at 14.15h, the duration depends on the number of presentations:
Meeting 1: 25. September 2026 (both presentations); meeting 2: 06. November 2026 (both presentations); meeting 3: 04. December 2026 (presentations of results); meeting 4: 11. December 2026 (presentations of concepts), meeting 5: 18. December 2026 (only if needed).

Details regarding duration of each meeting are published with the program usually sent out around 10 days before the colloquia take place.

The colloquium is offered by the MSD. Prof. Dr. Alejandra Morán Ordóñez, Prof. Dr. Frank Krysiak and Prof. Dr. Janina Grabs (lead of this course) are heading the MSD teaching committee.

 

Admission requirements Only for students of the MSD (both curricula) who plan to submit the thesis application in the same semester. Prerequisit for the presentation in colloquium B is the former approval of the application by the teaching committee MSD. Students are supposed to present during the first session of the colloquium after approval (ususally takes place around 10 days later). The students are automatically listed for the corresponding date of the colloquium.

No other students admitted.
Course application Course enrollment on online services should be completed by the beginning of the teaching period, at the latest until 14. September 2026. Withdrawal possible until Monday of teaching week five.

Exclusively for MSD-students. No other students admitted.

Assessment format continuous assessment
Assessment details Compulsory attendance on site, in presence. Oral presentation of 5' minutes in form of a pitch, followed by questions (5') and a discussion in group. The presentations are to be uploaded on ADAM by the presenters until Wednesday/noon before Friday of the presentation.
