| Content | This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of qualitative social research. It covers the theoretical basis of social science and explains various methods of data collection and analysis, such as interviews, ethnographic fieldwork, and document analysis. Other topics include research ethics and critical perspectives on science. The course emphasizes the connection between theory and research practice. The methods are not only presented in lectures, but also illustrated with case studies and practiced in tutorials. The course aims to provide students with an overview of the various qualitative social research methods and foster their ability to align their research interests with their choice of methods. |
| Learning objectives | Participants are familiar with the qualitative research methods commonly used in practice, and can assess which method is appropriate for a given subject and research question. They are also familiar with the steps and procedures of qualitative social research. They gain some initial experience in applying these methods. |
