Content This block course provides an overview of International Sales Law. The main
focus lies on the UN Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG), with
occasional comparative references to national laws as well as international
sets of rules where it is of interest. By participating actively, the students
have the opportunity to expand their knowledge in this internationally very
important field of law.
On the basis of a case book, questions as to the scope of application of the
CISG, the formation of contract, the seller’s and the buyer’s respective duties
and remedies, damages, and the winding-up of the contract will be discussed.
Learning objectives The students are familiar with current fundamental issues in international sales
law; they acquire knowledge of uniform sales law and may draw comparisons to
selective national sales law provisions. In addition, students have the
possibility to read and speak English in a legal context.
