Content This course considers the Community’s basic economic and substantive law. Art. 14 EC provides: “The internal market shall comprise an area without internal frontiers in which the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital in ensured in accordance with the provisions of this Treaty”. Art. 4 EC states the importance of an economic policy conducted in accordance with the principle of an open market economy with free competition. Accordingly, the course deals with the concept of the Common/Internal Market and the “four freedoms”. Further, it provides as brief introduction to EC competition law and considers their relationship with the rules on free movement.
