Learning objectives | The main goal of the course is to provide an in depth treatment in evolutionary genetics in its different blends. Evolution is based on changes in gene frequencies in populations and how this relates to evolutionary change in phenotypes. Evolutionary genetics focusses how evolutionary forces lead to changes in the genetic composition of populations, not on molecular mechanisms of gene expression and reglation. This course will cover the four main domains in modern evolutionary genetics - Molecular Evolution, Evolutionary Bioinformatics, Population Genetics and Quantitative Genetics. Treatment of these topics in a single course will offer also insight into how these domains relate to each other. |
