14129-01 - Seminar: Linguistic Aspects of English Language Teaching (LAELT) 3 CP

Content This is a third year course for students taking the SLA Programme. However, the course is open to all students in their fifth semester or above who have an interest in the subject. The course considers the linguistic problems of English language teaching from a theoretical and practical point of view. In the first half of the course, the focus is towards linguistic theories and SLA (second language acquisiton) theory with the aim of informing practice with theory. The course then turns to examine the materials and practices of teaching more closely.
Learning objectives - Knowledge of the problematics of language teaching
- Gaining a critical view of language teaching methodology and materials
- Learning how to deal critically with teaching material
Bibliography A reading list accompanies the course.
