30612-01 - Field studies: Hydrogeology 2 CP

Semester spring semester 2012
Course frequency Every spring sem.
Lecturers Peter Huggenberger (peter.huggenberger@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content The "Hydrogeological Field Course" deals with the application of the most fundamental and frequently used methods for the hydrogeological characterization of aquifers. However, only a small part of the broad field of applied field hydrogeology can be covered during the course. Nevertheless, the experiments to be conducted give a good overview and will impart practical knowledge necessary in many areas of Applied Geosciences. For example, numerous tasks related to groundwater such as water resources management, remediation, prognoses of groundwater flow and solute transport in aquifers using numerical models require the understanding of the processes and the quantification of aquifer parameters such as hydraulic gradient, hydraulic conductivity and its spatial distribution, porosity, transmissivity, storativity, transport velocity, dispersivity etc.
Learning objectives Der Kurs setzt den Schwerpunkt in der Fähigkeit hydraulische Test im Feld zu planen, durchzuführen und auszuwerten.
Bibliography Course Notes 2010.
