Content The seminar offers a survey of South African fiction out of KwaZulu Natal and South Africa at large. Beginning with Alan Paton's seminal book, "Cry The Beloved Country", we move on to Rubendra Govender, "Sugar Cane Boy", Lewis Nkosi, "Mandela's Ego", Fred Khumalo, "Seven Steps to Heaven", Sally-Ann Murray, "Small Moving Parts", Shubnum Khan, "Onion Tears" and to most recent texts fresh from 'The Durban Literary Days' in March 2013.
Learning objectives This Seminar prepares for the SSAJRP-International Conference in MAY 2013 (with Professor Lindy Stiebel, University of KwaZulu Natal, Durban, Brian Fulela University of Bayreuth et al.).
Bibliography Books will be ordered at "THE LABYRINTH" (Nadelberg 17) or provided as master copies.

 

Admission requirements Open to BA students who have completed their 2nd year in Literary & Culture Studies (including the paper).
