40138-01 - Research seminar: Interpersonal pragmatics in action 4 CP

Content This course works with the most recent developments in interpersonal pragmatics, i.e. the field of research that is concerned with the interpersonal/relational side of communication. The main focus will be on applying theory to data. The topics for the data sessions will be decided on jointly at the beginning of term.

Students who attended the lecture on Interpersonal Pragmatics in AT14 are especially encouraged to participate.
Learning objectives At the end of this course students have gained knowledge on the different research strands within interpersonal pragmatics and they have gained experience in applying this knowledge to data.
Bibliography As preparation, students can read the introduction to the Handbook of Interpersonal Pragmatics (2010, Mouton, available online at the UB), and browse the articles and chapters posted in OLAT. The remaining reading will be decided on once the course program has been established.

Those who did not attend the lecture on Interpersonal Pragmatics in AT14 are encouraged to study the reader available in OLAT as preparation.
