| Content | La prima parte del seminario sarà dedicata all’analisi dell’uso della punteggiatura nella scrittura italiana attuale. Concentrandoci su scritture comunicative controllate (giornali, saggistica ecc.), ci chiederemo come la punteggiatura venga utilizzata (parte descrittiva) e come i suoi impieghi possano essere spiegati (parte teorica): si tratta di usi riconducibili a regolarità di tipo prosodico? Si tiene conto della sola struttura sintattica dell’enunciato? O sono piuttosto in gioco valori di carattere comunicativo? Per rispondere a queste domande partiremo dal punto di vista proposto dalle grammatiche normative per poi passare a considerare i numerosi studi specialistici usciti in questi ultimi anni in Italia e in Francia (senz’altro il paese che ha prodotto le riflessioni teoriche novecentesche più interessanti). Nella seconda parte del seminario risaliremo nel tempo, andando a vedere quale fosse la situazione della punteggiatura italiana nell’Ottocento. Ci interessano da una parte la posizione dei grammatici e dall’altra l’uso reale, che non potremo tuttavia affrontare che sulla base di un campionamento ristretto di testi. Obiettivo principale: (cominciare a) capire se nell’Ottocento la punteggiatura fosse utilizzata come oggi, o se invece conoscesse impieghi diversi, che si sono magari evoluti nel corso del secolo. Interrogativi come questi ci porteranno anche ad affrontare a grandi linee la questione della lingua (letteraria) che ha caratterizzato il primo Ottocento per poi svilupparsi, anche con implicazioni sociali, nel secondo Ottocento. |
