Content | This seminar focusses on Virginia Woolf both as a writer of (avant-garde) fiction and as an intellectual, who contributed crucially to debates about feminism and the politics and aesthetics of literature. We will read and discuss autobiographical sketches as well as essays and two novels from different periods of Woolf’s writing career. |
Learning objectives | Students will deepen their knowledge of one of the most important authors and intellectuals in twentieth-century English literature. They will practice and improve their skills in analyzing fictional and non-fictional texts, placing them into the appropriate cultural contexts. |
