44698-01 - Seminar: Advanced Topics in Content Centric Networking 3 CP

Semester spring semester 2016
Course frequency Irregular
Lecturers Christian Tschudin (christian.tschudin@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content This seminar extends two previous course offerings on Content Centric Networking (a novel concept that aims at replacing the aged Internet technology). Three advanced CCN topics will be explored: setting up and managing distributed data structures (e.g., linked lists, UNIX's index tables and Git-style versioning systems), handling the temporal evolution of data in a basically write-only system, and implementing content-, search- and transport- privacy despite the fact that names cannot be hidden.
Learning objectives Seminar participants will attempt and learn to map research questions in content-centric networking to classical Computer Science concepts such as (distributed) data structures, (temporal) data bases and privacy.
Comments After the first input session the seminar switches to block mode: Three Saturdays will be used for presentations, discussions and hands-on work.
