| Content | Il seminario intende studiare, esaminando testi ma anche dipinti e cicli d’affreschi, l’evoluzione della figura del cavaliere dal Medioevo al primo Cinquecento: da combattente sanguinario a raffinato guerriero e infine a cortigiano. Ci si interrogherà in particolar modo sui cavalieri che popolano la letteratura italiana quattro-cinquecentesca. In un’epoca in cui la guerra è diventata un’attività principalmente mercenaria ed è combattuta sempre più con le armi da fuoco, quale valore hanno le storie d’arme e d’amore dei cavalieri medievali? Sono solo racconti di intrattenimento o significano qualcosa di più? Momento conclusivo del seminario sarà la lettura di alcuni passi del Libro del cortegiano di Baldassar Castiglione (1528), dove per la prima volta è codificata la figura del nuovo gentiluomo. Agli studenti è richiesta la lettura integrale del Libro del cortegiano. Altri testi verranno distribuiti di volta in volta a lezione. |
