Content This course is held entirely in English and will explore the legal and ethical dimensions of current controversies related to health and intellectual property, with a particular emphasis on the role of international organizations. Topics will include pandemic preparedness, benefit sharing, travel restrictions for persons living with HIV, and legal protections of traditional knowledge. A significant component of the course will consist of visits to international organizations in Geneva, such as UNAIDS, WHO, WTO, and WIPO.

 

Admission requirements Suitable for students of all fields. This course is intended mainly for master- and PhD-students, in case there are places left, also advanced bachelor students may be admitted.

Assessment details Presence during the visit, essay plus oral presentation necessary for a pass for 3 credits. With a learning contract students can aquire only 1 Credit Point, if they only follow the visits and submitt a short essay on the learnings.
