| Content | A differenzia degli altri paesi europei, l’Italia medievale non ha conosciuto una grande letteratura epica. L’unico suo testo epico di rilievo è l’Entrée d’Espagne, lungo prequel della Chanson de Roland scritto in franco-veneta da un anonimo Padovano di primo Trecento. Esclusa l’Entrée, gli altri poemi epici sono perlopiù testi popolari, di limitato valore artistico. Deludenti si rivelano pure opere come l’Africa di Petrarca e il Teseida di Boccaccio, due tentativi colti di ridar vita al genere. Quando nel secondo Quattrocento Pulci e Boiardo inaugureranno la grande stagione del romanzo cavalleresco rinascimentale, guarderanno più all’esperienza romanzesca che a quella epica. Così farà anche Ariosto; l’Orlando furioso è infatti un romanzo cavalleresco e non un poema epico. Sarà solo con Trissino e soprattutto con Tasso che la letteratura italiana finalmente possederà un suo poema epico. Il corso intende interrogarsi sullo scarso successo dell’epica nella letteratura italiana. |
