Content Récits merveilleux à fonction didactique et morale, les Contes de Charles Perrault (1697) puisent à la fois dans l’univers légendaire de la littérature orale et dans la tradition littéraire, tout en se réappropriant l’imaginaire médiéval, chevaleresque et courtois – sans oublier que ces récits sont destinés à un public mondain. Le genre du conte appelle ainsi à de multiples perspectives d’analyse possibles qui seront approfondies au cours du séminaire : fonctions et modalités du merveilleux, structures du conte (V. Propp), archétypes des personnages (C.G. Jung), schémas narratifs, fonction didactique du conte, réception littéraire et mondaine à l’époque de Perrault, sans oublier les réécritures par les frères Grimm, les illustrations par Gustave Doré ainsi que les adaptations cinématographies.
