| Content | I intend to examine a variety of views of modern Britain looking particularly at style, sport, music and national identity. We shall be drawing on texts from magazines, newspapers, TV, film, photography, and popular music; you will be contributing to the course by giving short presentations, too. The aim of the course is to encourage open discussion of these varied phenomena. |
| Learning objectives | Students will acquire tools in the analysis of popular culture, and discuss current topography of British culture, focusing on a variety of media. Participants also work practically in the analysis and presentation of small case studies. |
| Bibliography | A background reading list will be distributed, and texts will be provided as specific reading material supporting each meeting. |
