| Content | This course is dedicated to reading and analyzing a selection of theoretical texts. These will be discussed with regard to the literary material dealt with in the first semester. |
| Learning objectives | Participants will practise and learn how to read theoretical texts, place literary texts in the context of literary theories, compare different theoretical arguments and begin to develop arguments of their own. |
| Bibliography | A reader will be made available at the beginning of the semester. In addition, students are expected to reread all the primary literary material discussed in the first semester. |
| Comments | This is primarily a methodological course; emphasis is put on the skills necessary for dealing with theoretical texts. |
| Admission requirements | The tutorial is part of the one-year course "Introduction to Literature and Culture Studies", and it is open to all students who have attended the first semester of this introductory course. The tutorial must be attended in conjunction with the lecture "Theorien und Methoden der Literaturwissenschaft" (24075-01). |
| Course application | Students are asked to put down their name on one of the four lists with the parallel courses which will be posted on the main notice-board of the Department of English (2nd floor, rear building) on February 8th. |
