26010-01 - Colloquium: Cultural Topographies (3 CP)

Content This research colloquium is part of a more extended project on "Cultural Topographies". We will continue our discussions of cultural constructions of space, this time with a focus on psychogeography. The colloquium can be attended in conjunction with the seminar "Reading/Writing the City" (26008-01), and it is also a suitable course for the "Zertifizierung Kulturelle Topographien".
Learning objectives Students will widen their knowledge of spatial theory and practice and develop their skills in research as well as academic discussion and presentation.
Bibliography Reading will include Iain Sinclair’s "London Orbital" (2003) and Will Self’s "Psychogeography" (2007). A detailed programme and additional reading material will be available on the EVA server at the beginning of term.

Admission requirements This colloquium is for advanced students and PhD-candidates. It is also specifically for students wishing to give the colloquium presentation required in the MA research skills module. Although the colloquium continues debates of the previous term, new participants are of course welcome.
