Learning objectives The course offers a survey of important South African literary texts in English in their sociohistoric context,
followed by a seminar in the spring semester 2011.
Bibliography A READER will be available at 'dings' shop, Kornhausgasse 2, in due time. Additional material will be available on the course server (t.b.a.).

Authors/texts include, among others, Schreiner, Paton, Abrahams, La Guma, Fugard, Gordimer, Brink, Head,
Kuzwayo, Ndebele, Nkosi, Krog, Mda, Wicomb, Magona, Coetzee, Duiker, Vladislavić, Jacob, Galgut
