62246-01 - Course: Sustainability in Practice 3 CP

Content Visits of institutions and organizations in the region, which are active in research, development of management solutions, knowledge transfer or application of scientific knowledge in the field of sustainable development. Projects will be presented and discussed. The visits will be complemented by presentations of selected experts at the University of Basel.
Learning objectives - Students gain knowledge about institutions and organizations in the field of sustainable development in the region;
- they acquire a basic understanding how a project develops from scientific knowledge to implementation,
- they know typical fields of sustainability in practice,
- they are able to critically discuss chances, but also challenges and difficulties when implementing SD ideas in the practice.
Comments This class is published for the three core competences modules. However, the teaching committee strongly advise the transfer of these credit points to the FASR module (via learning agreement; template available on the website MSD/downloads MSD 2017).

Schedule:
- 20. September 2024: 14.15 - 17.00h: Kick-off.
- 4., 11., 18., and 25. October 24: Site visits, in the afternoon until early evening.
- 15. November 24: 14.15 - 18.00h: final session.

This course is offered by the MSD: Proff. Dr. Patricia Holm (lead), and Frank Krysiak (head of the MSD teaching committee).

 

Admission requirements Only for students enrolled regularly in the MSD/2nd semester onwards, limited number of participants (19)! No other students admitted.

Specific participation requirements:
- Mandatory course application (for link see section course application = Anmeldung);
- students from 2nd MSD semester onwards;
- 12 CP in total must be already achieved (incl. spring semester 23) in the two complementary knowledge modules (of the chosen focus area).

Course enrollment on MOnA should be completed by the beginning of the teaching period (withdrawal possible until Monday of teaching week five).
