15387-01 - Lecture: NMR in Drug Discovery 1 CP

Semester fall semester 2017
Course frequency Every fall sem.
Lecturers Brigitte Fiege (brigitte.fiege@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content The lecture will start with an introduction to the history and theoretical background of NMR.
The main focus will be on the investigation of drug-target interactions with NMR experiments either observing the ligand or the protein. An important aspect is the dynamics of molecules that can be studied by NMR over a broad range of time scales.
Further topics include in cell and in vivo NMR spectroscopy and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Learning objectives The course should provide the theoretical and methodological background to understand scientific publications using NMR techniques in drug discovery.
Bibliography Selected scientific articles will be handed out for self-study.
Comments The lecture can be held in English if required.
Film and sound recordings during the course are strictly forbidden (recorders may be confiscated)
