| Content | Ce séminaire entend proposer aux étudiant-e-s un parcours dans la littérature d’Ancien Régime par le biais d’une étude de la présence animale. Sans prétendre à l’exhaustivité, ce rapide panorama interrogera les principales fonctions que la littérature donne à l’animal : symbolique ou morale, narrative ou imaginaire, réaliste et descriptive, philosophique et même anthropologique. On sera attentif aux débats que les grandes découvertes (l’imprimerie, les Amériques, les classifications zoologiques, la méthode cartésienne, etc.) provoquent vis à vis du statut accordé à l’animal et a contrario à l’égard de la définition de l’homme. |
