18346-01 - Lecture with practical courses: Introduction to Nuclear Astrophysics: Nuclear Reaction Rates and Their Application to Nucleosynthesis in the Big Bang and in Stars 4 CP

Semester fall semester 2018
Course frequency Irregular
Lecturers Thomas Rauscher (thomas.rauscher@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content Introduction to Nuclear Astrophysics (nuclear physics, nuclear reaction theory, thermodynamics); nucleosynthesis in the early universe; nuclear processes in stars.

The course is the first part of two. The second part will be following in another semester.

Bitte die Teilnahmebedingungen beachten!
Bibliography Course materials will be provided.
Comments By default, the lectures are presented in German. On request, the lectures can be held in English. Additional literature, some course materials and some exercises will be in English, anyway.

The second part of the course (to be held in another semester) covers stellar models, supernovae, explosive nuclear burning. If Nuclear Astrophysics is considered for a Master exam, attending both parts is strongly recommended.
