48668-01 - Proseminar: The English language in use 2 CP

Content This course aims to provide students with the opportunity to practice and develop their English language skills at C1 level. Activities will be student-driven, interactive and based on authentic texts. Students will engage in intensive reading, listening, speaking and writing practice as well as developing study skills and strategies for attaining C2 competency.

Students are expected to complete weekly homework assignments, including exercises as well as preparing for classroom discussions/presentations. Students are expected to attend the course regularly (two missed sessions maximum). They need to do the assigned preparation carefully in advance and participate actively in class.
Learning objectives After having attended this course students should be able to:

- comprehend written texts at C1 level (reading)
- comprehend spoken texts at C1 level (listening)
- produce written texts in a variety of genres (academic focus) at C1 level (writing)
- produce speech in a variety of communicative situations at C1 level (speaking)
- set personal goals and implement strategies for ongoing self-study (study
skills)
