Content | Have you ever wondered what it was like to read like a Victorian? This course examines serialization processes, from reading novels in their serialized format to exploring the developments of magazines such as "The Strand" and other nineteenth-century favourites. This will involve reading magazines in their entirety alongside novels, newspapers, and other contextualizing material. Learning objectives | Students will engage with 19th-century serialized literature, using and expanding their knowledge of literature, intertextuality, culture, history, politics, theory and literary criticism. |

Admission requirements | This course is open to MA-students and BA-students who have completed the introductory module (including the literature and linguistics proseminar papers). Priority will be given to students who have fulfilled these requirements. |
