Lecturers Sebastien Gagneux (sebastien.gagneux@unibas.ch)
Pascal Mäser (pascal.maeser@unibas.ch)
Till Voss (till.voss@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content This course on molecular infection biology will focus on molecular aspects of host-pathogen interactions, pathogen virulence, immune evasion strategies, pathogen transmission or drug resistance mechanisms of several eukaryotic and prokaryotic pathogens that cause important poverty-related infectious diseases such as malaria, sleeping sickness and tuberculosis.
Learning objectives To understand molecular strategies employed by pathogens to infect their hosts
To understand molecular mechanisms underlying drug resistance
