Content Description: Qualitative and mixed methods are gaining in importance in public health. In this lecture students will learn about the principles of these methods and study designs. By means of lectures and accompanying practical examples, different steps in using qualitative and mixed methods will be presented, including data collection, data management and analyses as well as presentation of findings.

Introduction to the basics of qualitative and mixed methods
Interrelationships and complementarity of qualitative and quantitative methods
Study design
Research methods
Data management and analysis
Use of software for managing qualitative data
Ethics
Learning objectives To understand the principles of qualitative and mixed methods and study designs in health and health services research; to be able to apply basic qualitative and mixed methods in practice.
Comments Methods: Lectures, readings, individual and group exercises
