Content This seminar provides an introduction to the concepts and approaches of peace and confict research. It looks at different understandings of peacebuilding and security and at the causes of conflicts. Further themes include the prevention of conflicts and early warning as well as the challenges posed by terrorism and nuclear arms. Finally, the link of migration to conflict and peacebuilding is critically reviewed.
Learning objectives Students are familiar with basic concepts and approaches of peace and conflict research. They know some of the most challenging developments to international peace and the coping strategies of the international community. Students are sensitized to critical approaches.
