| Content | Scientific writing is about delivering knowledge clearly and concisely. It is also about engaging the readers’ attention and guiding them through your work with the help of a valid logical structure. This is why writing style is extremely important. Like other types of crafts, writing style can be trained and improved. And there are a few general rules that can boost the readability of a text. Maybe someone told you already to avoid long and passive sentences, for example. In this seminar, we will practice writing style through weekly, in-class assignments and exercises. The goal is to provide students with tools that will help writing and revising master theses or scientific papers. |
| Learning objectives | In this seminar, students will learn how to write scientific reports. The focus of the course is writing style, with the goal of improving clarity in scientific reports. |
