Content The fieldwork involves 2 weeks of excavation and 1 week of only labwork. During the first two weeks, there will be rotation shifts and some participants will also do labwork. You have the chance to do a more intensive training in practical Archaeobotany, as long as you have visited the Übung für die Bestimmung von Pflanzenresten previously.
Because English will be the common spoken language and the local team is not formed by native English speakers, previous fieldwork experience is recommended.
Learning objectives - Excavation in a cave site
- Use of a total station
- Flotation and sorting of the heavy fraction
- If desired, sorting of the light fraction and identification of seed and fruit remains.
- If desired, archaeological drawing
