Content | In this seminar, we will read and discuss the debates on the decolonization of the mind, which has come to the center of many intellectual and political discussions around the globe. We will approach the issue not as one of concern to the global South only, but as a global debate. To think through the theoretical literature, we will look at concrete cases, such as the "Rhodes Must Fall" movement in Cape Town and Oxford, the new Africa Museum in Brussels and cover perspectives ranging from literature, education and government. The seminar is interdisciplinary and composed of a preparatory part that students do individually at home and a two days' intensive seminar. Peter deSouza (Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi) will be covering the first day of the seminar; Elisio Macamo and Ralph Weber the second day. |
