Content | This is an introductory course on statistical methods for causal inference. Concepts we will cover include causal diagrams, potential outcomes, confounding and identification. For the estimation of causal effects we will describe covariate adjustment within an outcome regression, inverse probability weighting and propensity score methods, while discussing the necessary assumptions for their validity. Finally we will discuss questions around causal structure learning. For the practical implementation of the estimation methods we will use the R statistical software (https://www.r-project.org/) within R Notebooks in RStudio (https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/). |
Admission requirements | Basic knowledge in statistics with some programming experience, preferably with R/RStudio which we will use for any practical examples. |
