Content | This course aims to introduce students to the history of emancipatory movements in Africa and the diaspora in the 20thcentury. Using a wide range of sources including documentary films, novels, blog posts, podcasts, fine art, archival records and secondary literature it analyses key turning points in the history of struggles for freedom and independence. By reading African struggles alongside evolving movements for freedom and rights in the diaspora, the course investigates transnational intellectual traditions and influences and probes the diversity of emancipatory traditions and modes of thinking. |
