21525-01 - Lecture: Introduction to NMR spectroscopy of proteins and other biomolecules 3 CP

Semester fall semester 2020
Course frequency Every fall sem.
Lecturers Daniel Häussinger (daniel.haeussinger@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content Instrumentation; labeling techniques and sample preparation; water suppression techniques; standard 2D and 3D(4D) pulse sequences for backbone and sidechain assignment; structure determination by NMR; relaxation and dynamics; residual dipolar couplings; paramagnetic relaxation enhancement; pseudo-contact shifts; protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions; techniques for large proteins.
Learning objectives Comprehension of the basic concepts of protein NMR. Participants should be enabled to follow the literature in the field and critically assess the use of NMR in their own research.
