Content Basic concepts of experimental design, data types, descriptive methods, statistical measures, normal distribution, parameter estimation and confidence intervals, basic notions and concepts of statistical tests, knowledge of the basic statistical tests, correlation, regression, analysis of variance.

Learning objectives Students know basic descriptive statistical methods. They understand fundamental concepts of inferential statistics and know basic analytic tools, including linear regression modelling and one-way ANOVA. They also know the principles of experimental design.

Comments The course will be based on lecture notes. The statistics program R will be used from November on. Students can also use the web platform BOMS (Basics of Medical Statistics) to do some interactive exercises.In addition to the official lectures, there will be exercise sessions.
