| Content | In the course the “Politics of the European Union” we will get to know the decision-making and negotiations of governments and parliamentarians in the European Union in two ways: in the first part of the session we will simulate a Council of EU Ministers negotiation round about an EU law, organized with the help of Eurosoc#Digital, a think tank and expert on decision-making simulations. This will allow a deeper understanding of international and EU negotiations and the factors which influence the positions, success and course of negotiations. We will focus particularly on the role of public opinion in these EU negotiations. In the second part we will get to know the European Parliament: firstly, we study current theories and studies analyzing the influence of parliamentarians, particularly in the Ordinary Legislative Procedure which gives this supranational parliament actual legislative influence. Secondly, we visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg and get to know the parliament and relevant actors in more detail. |
