Semester fall semester 2021
Course frequency Every fall sem.
Lecturers Andrea Kaiser-Grolimund (andrea.kaisergrolimund@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content This exercise teaches methodological basics in anthropology, with reference to qualitative and interpretative research. A main focus of this exercise lays on ethnography as a defining characteristic of anthropology, in its double sense as a process and product of intensive field research. Using current projects and practical exercises, participants will learn concrete methods for gaining knowledge. They also gain insights into procedures for documenting, organizing and interpreting the obtained findings and deal with techniques of oral, visual and written presentation of data.
Learning objectives Participants will know the advantages and disadvantages of an ethnographic research approach.
