Content This course will look at four novels in English that were published in 1962.
Learning objectives In-depth study of the four novels, as well as of their reception.
Bibliography The following novels originally published in 1962 are required for the course:

- James Baldwin, "Another Country" 9780141186375
- Doris Lessing, "The Golden Notebook" 9780007498772
- William Melvin Kelley, "A Different Drummer" 9781787478039
- Shirley Jackson, "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" 9780141191454

Selected secondary literature on the four novels will be provided by the instructor.
