| Content | This seminar will cover cognitive development from birth to old age, including the major milestones in intelligence, executive functioning and more. The seminar will integrate perspectives from current research and consider the potential causes or reasons for delayed or missed milestones. Students will also have the opportunity to learn how to assess various type of cognition through hands-on tasks. Students will be expected to partake in class and/or small group discussions throughout the semester, and give a presentation on an article, theory, or concept relevant to the course topic later in the semester. |
| Learning objectives | The primary goal of the seminar is to promote the learning of key theories and relevant concepts to cognitive development and broader psychological science. Secondary goals are for students to gain practice in thinking critically about existing research gaps, evaluating current research, and making practical or real-world connections from the course content. Lastly, students can aim to practice the former scientific skills in English throughout this seminar. |
