| Content | Dieses intensive Blockseminar, das gemeinsam mit Prof. Beate Fricke (Universität Bern) geleitet wird, findet in der Universitätsbibliothek Basel, der Burgerbibliothek Bern und in anderen Schweizer Handschriftensammlungen (ausserhalb von Basel) statt. Das Seminar vermittelt die wissenschaftlichen Grundlagen, die für das Studium von mittelalterlichen illuminierten Handschriften nötig sind (Kodikologie, Paläographie und die Analyse von Miniaturmalerei). Zusätzlich zum Gruppenunterricht werden die TeilnehmerInnen je eine Handschrift intensiv und eigenständig untersuchen, um die Fähigkeiten der Beobachtung, Beschreibung und Analyse zu üben. [This intensive Block seminar, co-taught with Prof. Beate Fricke (Universität Bern), will meet in the Universitätsbibliothek Basel, the Burgerbibliothek Bern, and in other Swiss manuscript collections (outside of Basel). Through first-hand examination of manuscripts, the Blockseminar will introduce students to some of the specialized skills required for the study of medieval illuminated manuscripts (codicology, paleography, the analysis of painting and drawing in manuscripts). In addition to group instruction, each student will also be assigned a single manuscript that they will study intensively and independently, in order to practice skills of observation, description, and analysis.] |
