56553-01 - Colloquium: Empirical Methods in Energy and Environmental Economics 3 CP

Semester spring semester 2023
Course frequency Irregular
Lecturers Meredith Fowlie (meredith.fowlie@unibas.ch, Assessor)
Content Course description: This course is designed to prepare graduate students to conduct their own empirical research in the field of energy and environmental economics (EEE). Lectures are organized around econometric methods that are commonly used in EEE research. These include randomized controlled trials, instrumental variables, and structural estimation. The goal is to help students develop a deeper understanding of how these methods are used across a range of applications including (but not limited to): electricity markets, energy demand, air pollution impacts, market-based environmental regulation, economics of wildfire, technology adoption, renewable energy policies, and environmental justice.
Learning objectives see course description

• Wooldridge, J., (2001), Econometric Analysis of Cross Section and Panel Data. MIT Press.
