| Content | This workshop-styled seminar introduces students to the diversity of ethnographic writing. It explores how anthropologists position ethnographic work within broader conversations with materiality, mobility, the senses, faith-based practices, the built environment, solitude, and sociality. The course pays particular attention ethics and politics of writing about others and other worlds through close analyses, modes of description, and inquiry, in exemplary ethnographic works ranging from classic anthropological monographs through critical autoethnography to creative nonfiction. Each session includes short multi-sensorial ethnographic writing exercises and assignments that require participants to reflect on existing critiques of positivist knowledge production. |
| Learning objectives | Overall, this course offers avenues for deeper ethnographic inquiry, exploration, experimentation, and critical commentary through texts and embodied experiences. |

| Admission requirements | The number of participants is limited to 25 people. The places are assigned according to date of enrollment and subject of study. Priority will be given to the subjects listed under "modules". |
