67125-01 - Seminar: Introduction to Quantitative Text Analysis for Social Scientists in R 3 CP

Content In this seminar, students will be taught the basics of quantitative text analysis (QTA) with R. The seminar highlights the individual steps of working with QTA, from creating and preparing a text corpus to the actual analysis and interpretation of the results.
Learning objectives Using examples from the social sciences, students will learn the theory underlying the various methods presented. In addition, what is learned is applied in practical exercises in R.
Comments Prior Knowledge: Students need not have worked with QTA before, but basic knowledge of R and RStudio is required. A 1-hour refresher will be provided in the second session to make sure everyone is on the same page.
Attention:
All Seminars will be graded in the Department of Political Science.
Grading scale 6.0 to 1.0, whereupon 4.0 is a pass.
The number of participants is limited. The places are assigned according to date of enrollment and subject of study. Priority will be given to students of Political Science.
