| Content | Diese Einführung umfasst zwei Lehrveranstaltungen, eine im Herbstsemester und eine im Frühlingssemester. Die erste Veranstaltung stellt die Grundbegriffe der Musik ins Zentrum: Was unterscheidet einen musikalischen Klang von einem Geräusch? Was sind Rhythmus, Harmonie und Melodie? Was sind musikalische Funktionen, Stile und Formen? Wie lassen sich die Schönheit, Ausdruckskraft oder Intelligenz von Klängen auf Begriffe bringen? Und wie verhalten sich solche musikalischen Fragen zu gesellschaftlichen Lagen und subjektiven Erfahrungen? Diese Begriffe werden anhand klassischer Texte der Geschichte der Musikästhetik erarbeitet. This course provides an introduction to the philosophical aesthetics of music. The first part of this two-semester course focuses on basic concepts of music: What distinguishes a musical sound from noise? What are rhythm, harmony and melody? What are musical functions, styles and forms? How can the beauty, expressiveness or intelligence of sounds be conceptualised? And how do such musical questions relate to social situations and subjective experiences? These concepts will be explored by studying classical texts from the history of musical aesthetics. |
