Content The concepts of identity construction has long been discussed in linguistics and is tied to many different ideologies (among them changing gender norms). We will jointly review the development of this field and discuss how it intersects with interpersonal pragmatics and the study of relational work as well as other linguistic disciplines. In their own contributions, students will focus on recent work in linguistics that looks at linguistic and multi-modal cues that construct and negotiate ideologies related to (competing) identities.
